About the specialist
Gaspar Pinto de Carvalho Freitas do Amaral is an Electrical and Computer Engineer from Instituto Superior Técnico and a Lieutenant-Colonel of Signals. A former student of the Instituto Militar dos Pupilos do Exército and of the Military Academy, he served 28 years in the Army and went on unlimited leave in October 2018.
His career was built in information and communications systems: from radio networks in United Nations peace operations (UNTAET, 2000) to the technological architecture of military higher education and the planning of the Army’s infrastructure. Today he is devoted to the integration of critical transport, communications and energy systems, on land, at sea and in the air.
From this path comes the thesis that runs through his work: “Whoever tries to govern physics with adjectives ends up, invariably, governed by collapse.” In A Fundação da Verticalidade: Da Engenharia da Soberania à Construção do Futuro he laid the foundations of duty; in O Abismo do Rigor he dissected bureaucratic necrosis.
He holds that top-level technical skill and the high philosophy of the State must merge into a single vector of sovereign strength, which he calls Intelligence with Soul (Inteligência com Alma): training systems engineers who are able to think for themselves in the face of technological captivity and the dictatorship of paper machines.
“Refusing the operational abyss is not a technocratic obsession; it is the ultimate shield of the Sovereignty of the State and the most vital act of civic protection of the Nation — standing, in its non-negotiable essence, as the greatest and deepest act of Love for one’s Neighbour.”
He works as a specialist with Grupo Aprecisa, which connects those who know with those who need; his publications are organised and produced with its support. · LinkedIn
